Sport Management (A.S.)

Study sport management at bc体育足球

The Sport Management A.S. degree at Jamestown Community College prepares you to transfer to a bachelor’s program and pursue careers working with youth, scholastic, intercollegiate or professional athletic organizations. Popular fields include sport management, sport facility management, campus and community recreation programs, and fitness management. You can also study for careers in sport information focused on public relations, marketing, promotions, and media communication.

While at bc体育足球, you’ll take core and elective courses to build your knowledge, skills, theory, and experiences to your specific interests in the sport industry. You can also complete an internship with a sports or athletics organization. Some of our students have interned with the local Jamestown Jammers baseball team and Jamestown Jackals basketball team, bc体育足球’s athletic department and fitness center, Chautauqua Sports Hall of Fame, and Northwest Arena in Jamestown.

Sport management skills

After you complete the program, you will be able to:

  • Demonstrate a basic understanding and appreciation for the role sport plays in our society and how that role is influenced by cultural traditions, social values, and psychosocial experiences.
  • Demonstrate basic knowledge of the concepts related to ethical leadership with regard to the various skills, roles, and functions of sport managers.
  • Demonstrate a basic ability to function within a “real world” sport, recreation, or fitness setting (i.e., experiential activities).
