The Welding Technology degree at Jamestown Community College prepares you for employment in welding and welding technology engineering. bc体育足球’s program provides a strong foundation in welding safety, equipment, and processes. You’ll also gain practical experience in shielded metal arc, gas metal arc, and gas tungsten arc welding.

You can pursue careers such as welding technician, welding supervisor, inspector, and sales engineer. Graduates can also transfer to four-year institutions offering the bachelor’s degree in welding engineering technology.

After you complete the program, you will be able to:

  • Perform AWS code quality welds on plate and pipe in all positions using shielded metal arc welding, gas metal arc welding, and gas tungsten arc welding.
  • Visually inspect all fillet welds and groove welds to ensure that they meet code criteria.
  • Weld/cut low carbon steel, stainless steel, as well as aluminum using shielded metal arc welding, gas metal arc welding, and gas tungsten arc welding.
  • Accurately read and comprehend welding blueprints and welding symbols.
  • Fabricate off of a blueprint.
  • Write and understand welding procedure specifications, procedure qualification test records, and welding qualification test records.
