REACH Homeschool Program

It’s never too early to reach for your future

REACH (Ready to Earn Advanced Credits in Homeschool) at Jamestown Community College is a 24-credit college pathway that follows requirements outlined by New York State Education Department to satisfy a High School Equivalency (HSE) diploma while simultaneously earning college credit.

This program gives homeschooled students the opportunity to experience campus life, with access to campus facilities and resources, while earning their HSE diploma and SUNY credits to apply to a future degree program.

Program Requirements
  • Students must meet NYS Maximum Compulsory Attendance Age (as noted on NYS 24 College Credit High School Equivalency Pathway Application)
  • Students must meet bc体育足球’s PEP student eligibility requirements

The 24 College Credit High School Equivalency Pathway application requires the following be completed:

  • 6 credits of English Language Arts
  • 3 credits of Mathematics
  • 3 credits of Natural Science
  • 3 credits of Social Science
  • 3 credits of Humanities
  • 6 credits of Electives
Process

This is a basic checklist of what homeschooled students will need to do:

  1. Fill out the online application.
  2. Take the placement exam.
  3. Meet with a success navigator and/or advisor to build your personal REACH plan.
  4. Register for courses in your personal REACH plan.
  5. Submit a certificate of residence (COR), if required by your county.

Once the required credit hours have been fully completed:

  1. Order an official transcript to be sent to your home address by U.S. Postal Mail. Do not open the sealed envelope once it arrives.
  2. Fill out Section A of the24 College Credit High School Equivalency Pathway application.
  3. Send your sealed official transcript* and 24 College Credit High School Equivalency Pathway application to:
    Jamestown Community College
    Office of the Registrar
    525 Falconer Street
    Jamestown, NY 14701

*Note that transcripts are only official when it is provided to bc体育足球 in the unopened envelope from Parchment.

The Registrar will submit Section B of the application and your sealed official transcript to the New York State Education Department. NYSED advises that applications take 6-8 weeks for processing. Once you receive your High School Equivalency diploma, you may apply to bc体育足球 and submit your HSE diploma for acceptance to bc体育足球.

Cost

REACH students are part-time students. Students will be able to take advantage of the PEP grant during the fall, spring, and summer terms as well as the EARN grant during the summer term.
